(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Police responded to a report of an assault in progress on Richardson Street at approximately 12:07 p.m. on Tuesday. According to initial information, two individuals were involved in a physical altercation and one person was stabbed.
Upon arrival, officers immediately detained one individual and provided emergency medical care to the injured party. EMS and Columbia Fire Department personnel also arrived on the scene to assist with medical treatment. The injured person was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Grant Buxton of Columbia, was arrested by Columbia Police for first-degree assault, armed criminal action, and felony possession of narcotics.
