(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Police have made two arrests in connection with a shooting that occurred on Mayflower Drive earlier this week. Ataveon Gordon, 18, and Jared Britt Jr., 18, both of Columbia, have been taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the incident.
According to authorities, on Jan. 27 at approximately 9:42 a.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance in the area of Providence Road and Nebraska Avenue. Upon arrival, they found a male victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and his injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.
Further investigation led officers to determine that the shooting had taken place in the 2600 block of Mayflower Drive. As a result, Gordon was arrested for first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon, while Britt Jr. was arrested for first-degree assault.

The Columbia Police Department has stated that this is an ongoing investigation and is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. They can contact CPD at 573.874.7652 or provide information anonymously through CrimeStoppers at 573.875.8477.
In addition, CrimeStoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $2,500 for any information that leads to an arrest in this case. The case number for this incident is 2025-000706.
This news comes after an earlier press release from CPD announcing their investigation into the shooting on Mayflower Drive on Jan. 27. With these recent arrests, it is hoped that justice will be served for the victim and their family as the investigation continues.
