(COLUMBIA, MO) - Update: This release contains additional information about former Columbia Mayor Darwin Hindman and a photo of Hindman Junction.

The City of Columbia and Ward 4 Council Member Ian Thomas will unveil new informational panels at Hindman Junction, which has marked the intersection of the MKT Trail and the statewide Katy Trail since 1995. The ceremony and unveiling will be Friday, Nov. 12 beginning at 11 a.m.

The two new panels were developed to commemorate the involvement of late former Columbia Mayor Darwin Hindman in the creation and promotion of both the local trail system and the Katy Trail. The new panels are funded by private constituents to recognize Hindman's contributions to the project that connected Columbia to the Katy Trail. The additional panels are updated and maintained by the Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Columbia Parks and Recreation Department.
