BRANSON, Mo., March 27, 2024 ~ Journalist: This Saturday, March 30, the internationally-awarded Silver Dollar City theme park will be opening the largest family roller coaster in the Heartland, Fire In The Hole. Today, media from across the country gathered at the 1880s theme park in the heart of the Ozarks for a special preview of this highly anticipated attraction.

At over 32,000 square feet, Fire In The Hole is not only the largest attraction at Silver Dollar City but also represents their single-largest investment to date. The ride takes guests on a nearly 3-minute long journey through 14 iconic show scenes, including three gravity-driven drops and a surprise water-splash finale. This unique experience is the result of years of collaboration between Idaho's Rocky Mountain Construction and Herschend Creative Studios.

According to Duane Marden, founder of the Roller Coaster Database, Fire In The Hole is truly one-of-a-kind. "The ride combines a family coaster experience with indoor elements that showcase the history of this area," said Marden. "It's all housed in a massive building and ends with a water splash. There's nothing like it anywhere and it will definitely be a must-ride for every visit."

The new coaster stays true to Silver Dollar City's 1880s roots by retelling an account of a real night in Ozark Mountain history when the mining town of Marmaros was burned to the ground by notorious vigilantes known as The Baldknobbers. This story is also connected to the park's original Fire In The Hole coaster, which operated for over 50 years before its final rides in 2023.

Now housed in a temperature-controlled building, Fire In The Hole will be open year-round regardless of weather conditions. "This new addition is a testament to the hard work and ingenuity of our team here at Silver Dollar City," said Brad Thomas, President of Silver Dollar City Company. "They have poured countless hours into this project and their craftsmanship can be seen in every aspect of the ride."

In addition to the new coaster, Silver Dollar City has also expanded its Fire District area with the opening of Sadie's Pretzel Cafe and Flanders Dry Goods. These new additions offer guests a chance to experience more of the park's rich history and lore.

Thomas believes that Fire In The Hole is just the beginning of an exciting summer at Silver Dollar City. "This coaster, just like the original, ensures that families will make lasting memories for years to come," he said. "And there's plenty more fun to come with our Summer Celebration and Bluegrass & BBQ events."
