~ In a show of commitment to improving the city's parks and neighborhoods, Mayor Tishaura O. Jones, along with 3rd Ward Alderman Shane Cohn, City staff, and various community organizations and residents, gathered at Marquette Park today for the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the newly renovated basketball courts and brand-new pickleball courts.

The event marks the second consecutive week that the City of St. Louis has opened free outdoor sports facilities in one of its parks. Mayor Jones expressed her enthusiasm for providing more opportunities for St. Louisans, especially children, to engage in physical activity and have fun in one of the city's 108 parks.

Funded by the Biden-Harris administration's American Rescue Plan Act, the upgrades to the basketball courts and construction of pickleball courts are just one step in the City's larger effort to revitalize Marquette Park, Dutchtown, and south St. Louis.
