~ The Mayor of St. Louis, Tishaura O. Jones, has taken action to address the ongoing financial issues within the city's Board of Education. In a press release issued today, Mayor Jones' administration announced the issuance of a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Certified Public Accountants to provide audit services to the Board of Education.

Mayor Jones expressed her concern for the students and families affected by the mismanagement within the school district, stating that they deserve answers and a school board that is held accountable for their financial actions.

According to state law (Section 165.181, RSMo), it is required for the Mayor to appoint an auditor at the end of each fiscal school year. The RFP specifies a three-year audit period starting with the 2023-2024 fiscal year, which ends on June 30, 2024. The school district is responsible for covering the cost of this auditor.
