~ The City of St. Louis is taking steps to enhance the dining options for its employees and visitors by bringing back food vendors to two of its busiest government buildings. The Comptroller's Office has announced that they are seeking proposals from vendors to provide a variety of food options at City Hall and 1520 Market St.
The goal is to create a food hall experience, similar to those found on college campuses, by having multiple vendors in each space. However, the city is also open to considering one operator who can offer a diverse range of offerings in a food court setting. The Comptroller's Office encourages creative concepts in the proposals.
Mayor Tishaura O. Jones expressed her excitement about this initiative, stating that it will not only benefit the city employees but also attract more people to work in these buildings and provide better services for the residents of St. Louis. She also highlighted the city's renowned food scene and invited restaurants to be a part of it by offering local favorites such as toasted ravioli, St. Louis-style pizza, and gooey butter cake.

In addition to serving City employees, the food vendors will also be open to the public visiting City Hall and 1520 Market St., including those summoned for jury duty at the Civil Courts Building each week.
The cafeteria at City Hall will be located in the basement restaurant space previously occupied by Marco's Cafe, while at 1520 Market St., vendors will be situated on the mezzanine level overlooking the first-floor lobby.
Interested vendors have until September 19th, 2024 at 5 p.m. to submit their proposals to the Comptroller's Office. The tentative start date for the contract is January 1st, 2025. Detailed guidelines for submission can be found on the City's website.
This move aligns with the city's commitment to being a great place to work and their efforts towards improving city services. The City is also exploring options to bring food vendors to other government buildings.
In addition to this, the City of St. Louis is currently hiring for various positions across multiple departments. In May, they launched a new job application system to streamline the hiring process for both applicants and the City, resulting in a faster timeline for filling open positions.
