~ A tragic bicycle crash on April 26, 2019 has resulted in the death of 61-year-old Brian Marshburn. According to the Springfield Police Department, officers were called to the scene at 05:46 p.m. in the 3000 block of East Sunshine after a motor vehicle crash involving a bicycle and a passenger car.
The investigation revealed that a 2001 Lincoln LS was traveling eastbound on Sunshine when Marshburn, riding his bicycle northbound, entered the path of the car. The Lincoln struck Marshburn and his bicycle, causing him critical injuries. He was immediately transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

Despite efforts to save him, Marshburn passed away on May 2, 2019 at 8:26 p.m. from injuries sustained in the crash. His next of kin has been notified and an ongoing investigation is being conducted. The driver of the Lincoln was unharmed and there is no suspicion of impairment at this time.
Sadly, this marks the third fatal crash in Springfield this year. The community mourns the loss of Brian Marshburn and urges all drivers and cyclists to exercise caution on the roads to prevent further tragedies like this one.
