~ The Springfield Police Department is taking proactive measures to promote safety and crime prevention within the community. In a recent press release, it was announced that the department will be hosting Neighborhood Watch training sessions in April.

The two-day training, scheduled for April 24 and 25 from 6-8 p.m., will cover various topics such as crime prevention, observation and reporting skills, Operation Identification, and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED). These sessions are free of charge and open to all citizens living within the city limits.

With the success of 18 official Watch groups already formed, the program is steadily growing in popularity within the City of Springfield. The SPD is encouraging all interested individuals to attend both evenings of training in order to receive the full benefits.

To secure a spot, interested parties can register by contacting the SPD Crime Prevention Unit at 417-874-2113 or by submitting an online registration form.
