~ On the evening of May 13th, a fatal traffic crash occurred on US 65 in Springfield, Missouri. The Springfield Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 7:05 p.m. after receiving reports of a motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles.

According to the investigation, a black Dodge Durango driven by 17-year-old Mikaila Koch from Bolivar, Missouri was traveling northbound on US 65 when it collided with the rear of a white 2016 Chevy Cruze operated by Clorissa Tilden, 37, from Reeds Springs, Missouri. As a result of the impact, the Chevy Cruze veered off the road and struck a guardrail.

Tragically, an 11-year-old female passenger in the Chevy Cruze was pronounced dead at the scene. Tilden and another passenger, aged 16, were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Springfield Police Department has notified next of kin and has expressed their condolences to the family. The investigation is still ongoing and impairment is not believed to be a factor in this crash.

This marks the fourth fatality crash in Springfield so far this year. The police department urges all drivers to exercise caution and follow traffic laws to prevent further tragedies on the road.
