~ The Springfield Police Department is bidding farewell to four of its long-serving officers who will be retiring next week after 25 years of dedicated service to the city. Sergeant Todd King, Corporal Steve Hosiner, Officer Chris Johns, and Officer Jonnathan Bartel joined the department's 38th Police Academy on September 26, 1994 and graduated together in the spring of 1995.
Throughout their careers at SPD, these four officers have held various positions and made significant contributions to both the department and the community. The department takes great pride in honoring their commitment and dedication.
Sergeant Todd King, who retires as the head of SPD's Violent Crimes Unit, has had a distinguished career. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2012 and has since then served in various roles such as Corporal and Officer. His experience includes working in the Internal Affairs Unit, Special Investigations Unit, and on Patrol.

Corporal Steve Hosiner is retiring as the head of SPD's policies where he was responsible for developing and managing all department policies. He also played a crucial role in assisting with department accreditation processes. Hosiner was promoted to Corporal in 2004 and has worked in different positions at SPD including Patrol, Community Services Section, and Criminal Investigation Section.
Officer Chris Johns is retiring as a Detective from the Special Victim's Unit. During his time at SPD, he also served in Patrol and the Child Crimes Unit. Johns dedicated ten years of his career to the Training Unit where he played an essential role in shaping new officers.
Officer Jonnathan Bartel is retiring from his position at SPD's Traffic Unit after serving for many years as a Patrol Officer. He also spent five years working in the Community Service Section during his time at SPD. Bartel was a dedicated member of the SPD Honor Guard for two decades.
The Springfield Police Department extends its warmest congratulations to each of these officers on their 25 years of service and wishes them all the best in their retirement. Their contributions to the department and the community will be greatly missed.
