Springfield, Mo. ~ Springfield, Mo. - On Friday, July 26, at 7 p.m., the East Sunshine Church of Christ will be hosting the graduation ceremony for the 78th Police Academy. The Springfield Police Department is proud to announce that 12 police recruits will be graduating from this rigorous program.
The Springfield Police Academy is a comprehensive training program that spans over 26 weeks and includes 1,049 hours of intense law enforcement training. This class of recruits began their training in January and have worked tirelessly to prepare for their roles as police officers.

After graduation, the recruits will be assigned to experienced field-training officers (FTOs) for an additional 640 hours of on-the-job training. This will further equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to serve and protect their community.
The graduates of the 78th academy come from diverse backgrounds, including military service, culinary arts, athletic training/sports medicine, and real estate. Among them are nine men and three women who have shown dedication and determination throughout their training.
The ceremony will be livestreamed on CityView and the Springfield Police Department's Facebook page at 7 p.m., allowing friends, family, and community members to join in celebrating these new officers as they embark on their solo patrol duties in the Uniform Operations Bureau.
