Springfield, Mo. ~ Springfield, Mo. - On Wednesday, October 18, the Stop the Violence Conference will take place at Missouri State University's Plaster Student Union from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This event is a community call to action aimed at addressing interpersonal violence and creating a safer environment for all.

Organized by Abilities First and the Missouri State University Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, this free conference is open to the public but requires advance online registration. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual option is also available.

The conference will offer continuing education credit for professionals such as counselors, social workers, law enforcement officers, and attorneys seeking CEUs. However, anyone interested in learning more about ending the cycle of interpersonal violence is encouraged to attend.

Attendees can expect sessions on various topics including domestic violence within faith communities, digital abuse, and the intersection of domestic violence and substance abuse. The keynote presentation will be delivered by Kate Ranta, a survivor, author, advocate, and activist.
