~ As the 71st Springfield Police Academy prepares for their graduation ceremony this Saturday, the media and public are invited to attend and witness the culmination of months of intense training. The ceremony will take place at Parkcrest Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m.
A total of 26 recruits will be graduating, having completed 1,099 hours (27 weeks) of rigorous law enforcement training. Following their graduation, these new officers will undergo an additional 520 hours (13 weeks) of on-the-job training with an experienced field-training officer (FTO). Once they have completed this program, they will be assigned to the Uniform Operations Bureau.

Of the graduating class, 23 are male and three are female. Their education and experience vary, with six holding Bachelor's degrees, seven with Associate's degrees, and ten having prior or current military experience. This diverse group of recruits is ready to serve and protect the community as they embark on their careers in law enforcement.
