Springfield, Mo. ~ As the Springfield Police Department continues to seek new recruits, they are offering the community a unique opportunity to get an inside look at the department's various career options. On Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to noon, the public is invited to attend an open house event at the Police/Fire Training Center located at 2620 W. Battlefield St.
The main objective of this event is to connect with individuals who are interested in pursuing a career with the Springfield Police Department. This hands-on event is free and open to all members of the public. Attendees will have access to information about both sworn police officer positions and non-sworn professional positions within the department.

The open house will showcase a range of police vehicles and specialty units, including the department's drones and K9 unit. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in interactive activities such as a mock crime scene analysis and virtual reality Taser demonstrations.
For those interested in joining the police academy, there will be a recruitment team available to answer questions and guide individuals through the physical agility course. This course is a mandatory part of the initial testing process for admission into the academy.
