Springfield, Mo. ~ On May 22, 2023, officers responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcyclist and a white SUV in Springfield, Missouri. The SUV left the scene immediately after the accident and was not located. The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The following day, members of the Traffic Unit located the white SUV and conducted a traffic stop. They identified the driver as Dea A. Brewer, 45, from Springfield and arrested him on unrelated warrants from Taney County.
The Violent Crime Unit then discovered that Brewer and the motorcyclist knew each other and that Brewer had intentionally struck the motorcycle with his vehicle, leading to the motorcyclist losing control of it.

As a result, on May 24th, Brewer was charged with 1st Degree Assault and Armed Criminal Action by the Greene County Prosecutor's Office. He is currently being held in Taney County Jail without bond until his extradition to Greene County Jail.
The Greene County Prosecutor's Office reminds that these charges are merely allegations and that Brewer is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
