~ Springfield Police are currently investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred at the intersection of Sunshine and Oxford on December 5, 2020. According to initial reports, the incident took place at around 11:30 p.m. and involved a 2019 Navistar box truck and a pedestrian.

The box truck was traveling westbound on Sunshine in the outside lane when it struck the pedestrian who was crossing southbound on Sunshine. The truck initially continued westbound but then turned around and returned to the scene. The pedestrian, identified as 39-year-old Marcie L. Brown from Springfield, was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin has been notified.

This tragic incident marks the 24th fatality motor vehicle crash and the 26th total crash-related death in Springfield for 2020. The police are urging drivers to remain vigilant on the roads and follow all traffic laws to prevent further accidents like this one from occurring.
