Springfield, Mo. ~ On Christmas Day in 2024, tragedy struck the quiet neighborhood of Springfield, Missouri. At approximately 3:10 p.m., the Springfield Police Department received a call about a possible deceased person at 2307 N. Park Ave. Upon arrival, officers discovered the lifeless body of 77-year-old Lois Jones inside her residence. Jones, a resident of Springfield, had visible injuries consistent with assault. Her family has been notified of her passing.
After further investigation, Springfield Police Department Homicide Detectives identified 63-year-old Robert Collins as the suspect in this case. Collins, also a resident of Springfield, was arrested and booked into the Greene County Jail on charges of first-degree murder.

The case will now be reviewed by the Greene County Prosecutor's Office to determine if criminal charges will be filed against Collins. However, the prosecutor's office reminds the public that these are merely allegations and that Collins is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
Meanwhile, detectives are continuing their investigation and are asking anyone with additional information about this incident to come forward.
