~ Springfield police are currently investigating a homicide that occurred on November 20, 2018, involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. According to reports, at approximately 5:14 P.M., officers were called to the intersection of Campbell and University after receiving reports of a vehicle striking a pedestrian.
Upon arrival, officers found a female victim lying in the street with serious injuries. Witnesses informed them that the victim had been hit by a vehicle and that the driver had fled the scene. The officers immediately began administering life-saving measures and the victim was rushed to the hospital via ambulance. Unfortunately, she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect had fled south to Campbell and Sunshine where they collided with another vehicle. Witnesses from the initial incident followed the suspect and prevented them from escaping until officers arrived and took them into custody.
As detectives delved deeper into their investigation, they uncovered evidence suggesting that the driver of the suspect vehicle may have intentionally struck the victim. This led to a homicide investigation being launched.
The victim has been identified as 57-year-old Barbara E. Foster from Springfield. Her next-of-kin have been notified of her passing. The suspect has been identified as 46-year-old Elizabeth H. McKeown, also from Springfield.
The Springfield Police Department is urging anyone with information about this incident to come forward and contact them at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 417-869-8477. The investigation is ongoing and updates will be provided as they become available.
