~ Springfield Police Investigate Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash
On December 8, 2020, at approximately 12:00 p.m., Springfield police were called to the intersection of Blaine St. and Marlan Ave. for a single-vehicle crash involving a Ford Focus. According to initial reports, the vehicle was traveling southbound on Marlan Ave when it veered off the road, striking a stop sign before crossing Blaine St. The car then crashed into the back yard of 2311 East Pacific Street and collided with the rear of the residence.
The driver of the Ford Focus has been identified as 87-year-old Bonnie J. Davis, a resident of Springfield. Davis was immediately transported to Mercy hospital for treatment but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries. Her next of kin has been notified.

The Springfield Police Department's Traffic Section is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and is asking anyone with information to come forward. They can contact the department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 417-869-TIPS (8477).
This tragic incident marks the 25th fatality motor vehicle crash and the 27th total crash-related death in Springfield this year. The police department urges drivers to exercise caution and follow traffic laws to prevent further accidents on the roads.
