~ A fatal motorcycle crash in Springfield is currently under investigation by the local police department. The incident occurred on November 26, 2018 at approximately 8:07 P.M. at the intersection of Chestnut Expressway and Main.
According to officers from the Springfield Police Department, a motorcycle driven by 36-year-old Bruce Compton of Battlefield, MO was traveling at a high rate of speed on Chestnut Expressway and passing other vehicles on the road. The motorcycle then ran a red traffic signal at the intersection and collided with a sports utility vehicle driven by 35-year-old Nathan Leaf of Springfield, MO.

Tragically, Compton was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel. There was no evidence of impairment on the part of Leaf, who remained unharmed in the crash. The Traffic Section of the Springfield Police Department is currently investigating the incident.
The next of kin for Compton has been notified about his passing. This marks the 16th fatal crash for the Springfield Police Department in 2018. More information will be released as it becomes available.
