Springfield, Mo. ~ On the evening of November 14th, 2023, the Springfield Police Department responded to a report of shots fired from one vehicle to another near the intersection of Grant Avenue and College Street. Upon arrival, officers found Chaviz Nguyen, 26, from Springfield and a female victim with gunshot wounds. The female was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries while medical personnel attempted lifesaving efforts for Nguyen, who ultimately died at the scene.

The suspect vehicle fled immediately after the shooting and has yet to be located. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact the Springfield Police Department or make an anonymous report to Crime Stoppers. This is Springfield's 17th homicide investigation in 2023.
