~ Springfield Police have identified the victim of a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred on November 30th, 2018. According to authorities, 23-year-old Dakota Randolph was driving a 2015 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on Kansas Expressway near Mt. Vernon Street when the incident took place.
At approximately 7:24 P.M., the Springfield Police Department responded to the crash at the intersection of Kansas Expressway and Mt. Vernon Street. A green 2003 Ford Explorer, driven by 44-year-old Melissa Storie, was traveling northbound on Kansas Expressway and turned westbound onto Mt. Vernon in front of Randolph's motorcycle.

The impact of the collision caused Randolph to sustain fatal injuries and he was pronounced dead at the scene. One passenger from the Ford Explorer was also injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious physical injuries. The identity of this passenger has not been released.
Authorities have notified Randolph's next of kin about his passing. It is currently unclear if impairment played a role in the crash and investigations are ongoing.
This tragic incident marks the 17th fatality crash in Springfield for this year alone. The Springfield Police Department urges all drivers to exercise caution and follow traffic laws to prevent such accidents from occurring in the future.
