Springfield, Mo. ~ Springfield, Mo. - The Springfield Police Department has been actively investigating motorcycle accidents in the city, with a focus on preventing them. In 2023, they investigated 10 fatal crashes involving motorcycles. To further their efforts in promoting motorcycle safety, the department has been conducting enforcement and education activities throughout the year.
On May 18, 2024, the Springfield Police Department carried out Operation Safe Ride. This initiative aims to increase visibility and enforce motor vehicle laws and motorcycle safety in the city. Officers utilized various vehicles including marked patrol cars, unmarked vehicles, and a drone to monitor hazardous moving violations.

During Operation Safe Ride, a total of 30 vehicles were stopped and 16 citations were issued for various violations. The department plans to continue conducting similar operations throughout 2024. It is worth noting that Operation Safe Ride is funded by a Hazardous Moving Violations (HMV) grant.
