SPRINGFIELD, Mo. ~ On the evening of November 18, 2025, a tragic incident occurred on N. Kansas Expressway in Springfield, Missouri. At approximately 7:22 p.m., officers from the Springfield Police Department were called to the scene of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.
According to reports, Rhonda Powers, a 60-year-old resident of Willard, was driving her 2023 Kia Telluride northbound on Kansas Expressway when she struck 53-year-old David L. Woolen from Newberg, Oregon. Woolen was walking eastbound across the roadway at the time of the accident and was not using a crosswalk.

Tragically, Woolen did not survive the impact and was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been notified of his passing.
The Springfield Police Department has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this fatal crash. Anyone with information is urged to contact them at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 417-869-TIPS (8477) or online at p3tips.com.
This incident marks Springfield's 21st fatal vehicle crash in 2025, resulting in a total of 22 deaths. The community is urged to stay vigilant and follow all traffic laws to prevent further tragedies like this one.
