~ A tragic shooting in North Johnston has resulted in the death of a 45-year-old man. According to a press release from the Springfield Police Department, officers were called to 2050 N. Johnston on February 21, 2019, at around 7:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a shooting.

The victim, identified as Jamie L. Carroll from Springfield, was rushed to the hospital where he underwent immediate surgery. However, despite the efforts of medical staff, Carroll remained in critical condition until his passing on March 6, 2019.

The suspect in the shooting has been identified as Keeton H. Waring, a 31-year-old male also from Springfield. Waring was arrested by Springfield police officers on February 27 and has been held in the Greene County Jail on a $250,000 bond for first-degree assault.

Detectives are now preparing to present charges of second-degree murder to the Greene County Prosecutor.
