~ Springfield, MO- On April 16, the E-Plex at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds will be buzzing with excitement as more than 3,300 high school students from across Missouri gather for the seventh annual Build My Future Construction Showcase. This event, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., is expected to draw students from 100 schools and programs representing a 26-county region.
According to Megan Herzog, a member of the Build My Future planning committee, the event will feature 65 hands-on exhibits that allow students to explore careers in construction, engineering, and skilled trades. "These students will have the opportunity to test drive various careers and gain valuable insight into these industries," Herzog stated.
The need for workers in these fields has become increasingly urgent due to the retirement of the Baby Boomer generation. As a result, events like Build My Future have become crucial in recruiting new workers into these industries. "We are excited to provide this opportunity for students to learn about potential career paths and help fill the growing demand for skilled workers," Herzog added.
