~ Springfield City Seeks Heirs and Beneficiaries for Abandoned Graves in Hazelwood Cemetery
The City of Springfield, Missouri has announced its intention to search for heirs and beneficiaries of graves located in the NE¼, Lot 120 of Hazelwood Cemetery. This lot was formerly known as Lot 42 and is currently owned by C. Fulbright or their unknown heirs, devisees, grantees, assignees, donees, alienees, legatees, administrators, executors, guardians, mortgagees, trustees, legal representatives and successors.
According to Section 214.209 RSMo., the City is required to conduct a search for heirs and beneficiaries if 75 years or more have passed since the last recorded activity on the burial sites. If no owner or heir can be located within one year of the final publication of this notice, ownership of the burial sites will revert back to the City.

The lots in question are located in Hazelwood Cemetery in Greene County and have been deemed abandoned due to the lack of any recorded activity for over 75 years. The City is now seeking any person who may have rights to these burial sites to come forward and assert their rights within one year.
In order to do so, interested parties must file a statement in writing with the office of the City Clerk at 840 N. Boonville Ave., Springfield MO 65802. This statement should explain what rights they may have in regards to these burial sites and how those rights were acquired.
The City urges anyone with information about these graves or their rightful owners to come forward within one year from the date of this notice. Failure to do so will result in these burial sites being deemed abandoned and ownership reverting back to the City.
