FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Springfield Police Department was dispatched to Glenstone and Evergreen to investigate a serious accident at 9:44 p.m. on July 6. A white 1998 Ford Excursion driven by Zackery T. Cassady, 30, of Republic, was traveling northbound in the outside lane of Glenstone when it struck Edward E. Schuck, 55, of Springfield, in the crosswalk south of the intersection. Schuck was crossing eastbound in the crosswalk, but it is unknown at this time if the crosswalk signals were activated at the time. Impairment is not a factor in this case. The investigation is ongoing.
