~ On December 16, the City Council is set to vote on a resolution that would appoint Deputy City Manager Collin Quigley as the Interim City Manager. This decision comes after current City Manager Jason Gage submitted his resignation, effective January 11.
Quigley has been with the City of Springfield since August 2007, starting as the assistant city manager before being promoted to deputy city manager in 2018. In this role, he oversees various departments including the Airport, Emergency Communications, Finance, Fire, Health, Information Systems, Municipal Court, Police, and Risk Management. He also works closely with City Manager Maurice Jones in managing day-to-day operations.
A Springfield native, Quigley holds a bachelor's degree in public administration from Evangel University and a master's degree in public administration from the University of Kansas. He is also a Credentialed City Manager (ICMA-CM) with the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and has previously served as a board member for the Missouri City Management Association (MCMA). Before joining Springfield's government, Quigley was the city administrator for Ozark and Kimberling City.

Mayor Ken McClure expressed confidence in Quigley's ability to lead as Interim City Manager while the search for a permanent replacement for Gage continues. "Collin will provide steady leadership as we continue the search for a full-time City Manager to succeed Jason Gage," said Mayor McClure. "His years of dedicated service are a testament to his conscientiousness."
Quigley has stated that he is not interested in becoming the permanent City Manager but is committed to serving in this interim role. The search for a new city manager will be conducted by both the City Council and Executive Search Firm Strategic Governmental Resources (SGR). The vacancy announcement is expected to be posted in early January with initial screenings of candidates taking place in February and March.
