~ Residents and commercial haulers in Springfield, MO can breathe a sigh of relief as the City Council is set to approve an extension of the fee waiver for tree limbs, brush, and other organic storm debris. This decision will be made at the upcoming May 19 City Council session.
If approved, this means that residents and commercial haulers can continue to bring their debris to either the Yardwaste Recycling Center or Noble Hill Sanitary Landfill at no cost until the end of the month. Both facilities have also returned to their regular operating hours.
The Yardwaste Recycling Center, located at 3790 S. Farm Road 119 in Brookline, MO, will be open from Tuesday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, Sunday and Monday hours have ended. Meanwhile, the Noble Hill Sanitary Landfill, located at 3545 W. Farm Road 34 in Willard, MO, will be open from Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

It is important for residents to note that the Lone Pine and Franklin Avenue Recycling Centers are still under a limit of two bags or two bundles of yard waste per visit. The city is asking residents not to bring large loads of debris to these locations.
According to Solid Waste Superintendent Dan Jessen, this decision was made with the community's recovery in mind. "We know many in our community are still working to recover from the storm," said Jessen. "By continuing to offer free drop-off through the end of May, we hope to ease the burden and help residents safely dispose of debris without added cost."
