~ As the 2024 Birthplace of Route 66 Festival approaches, excitement is building for what promises to be the best parade yet. The highly anticipated event will feature over 500 classic cars, trucks, and other surprises as it makes its way down Route 66 through Springfield on Friday, August 9 at 6 p.m.
Spectators are encouraged to find the best viewing locations along the parade route, including Park Central Square, near Motorcycle Village at St. Louis and Jefferson, and various spots along College and St. Louis Streets. Bringing lawn chairs is recommended for a comfortable viewing experience.
But the fun doesn't stop there. A pre-parade party will kick off at 4:30 p.m. at the Birthplace of Route 66 Roadside Park located at 1200 W. College. Another pre-parade celebration will also take place at the Route 66 Car Museum at 1684 W. College.

For those interested in participating in the parade, registration is available for car show participants at no additional cost or for a $10 donation for those only participating in the parade. On the day of the event, participants can check in between 4-6 p.m. at either Kansas Expressway and College or College and West Avenue.
To make it even more special for participants, pre-parade picnics will be held at both the Route 66 Car Museum and Birthplace of Route 66 Car Museum before they hit the road.
