~ The City of St. Louis, in collaboration with the SLATE Missouri Job Center, is set to host a major hiring event on Friday, January 23rd. The event aims to fill 200 limited-term utility worker positions within the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Forestry. These openings are available in both the Parks and Forestry divisions.
In addition to these positions, the Recreation Division is also looking to hire several seasonal roles such as lifeguards and recreation assistants. The hiring fair will take place at the SLATE office located at 1520 Market St., 1st Floor Conference Room in downtown St. Louis. The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. and is open to the public.
This hiring event offers screening interviews for individuals seeking outdoor, hands-on work opportunities. These positions are available as either seasonal roles or career-track opportunities, providing a direct pathway into public service. Many current City employees began their careers as utility workers and some return year after year for reliable seasonal employment. All applicants are required to bring a state-issued ID or driver's license.
Director of Personnel Brian Light expressed his excitement about these job opportunities stating, "St. Louis can be a place where everyone has the tools and support they need not only to survive but to thrive." He also emphasized that these positions are more than just jobs; they are an invitation for individuals to help build a stronger and more vibrant city while creating real career opportunities for residents.
