~ Springfield, MO- The Springfield Fire Department is proud to announce that 16 firefighters from Fire Academy Class 524 have successfully completed their year-long probation and earned their black helmets. This achievement marks a significant milestone in their careers as firefighters with the City of Springfield.
According to Fire Chief David Pennington, these firefighters have worked tirelessly to earn their black helmets, which symbolize their readiness and commitment to serve the community with courage, professionalism, and excellence. Prior to this, they wore blue helmets as probationary members.

The Springfield Fire Department would like to congratulate the following firefighters from Class 524: Sean Conrad, Dakota Curnutt, Trenton Curry, Gage Curtis, Owen Fabro, Andrew Gall, Gabrianna Gardner, Trenton Herr, Corey Hodzic, Grant McNeill, Cash Miller, Kaden Olson, Brenna Ruyle, Draven Stapp, Zachary Stark and Jason Wassie.
