(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia College is teaming up with the Boone County Overdose Response Coalition and Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services (PHHS) to host a SAVE-A-LIFE event on Thursday, Oct. 10. The event, which will take place from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Columbia College Brouder Science Center, aims to educate the community about opioid overdose prevention and provide free naloxone nasal spray.

The event will begin with a formal presentation on recognizing the signs of an opioid overdose and how to use and access naloxone nasal spray. Following the presentation, PHHS staff will be available for informal training for those who cannot attend the formal session.

SAVE-A-LIFE is a monthly series of events that are open to the public and focus on educating community members about preventing opioid overdose deaths through the use of naloxone, also known as Narcan®. This month's event marks a significant milestone for the Coalition, as it has been providing these events for two years now. The first SAVE-A-LIFE event was held in October 2022 at Douglass High School in collaboration with KBIA FM Radio.

This SAVE-A-LIFE event serves as an important opportunity for community members to learn how they can play a role in preventing opioid overdose deaths. With education and access to life-saving medication like naloxone nasal spray, we can work towards a safer and healthier community.
