SYDNEY - Missouriar -- Naturism Resurgence (NRE) announces the launch of the world's first Standardised Stigma Measure (SSM), a groundbreaking instrument designed to quantify and analyse stigma related to naturism. This innovative tool will allow researchers, policymakers, human rights advocates, and naturist organisations worldwide to evaluate stigma in a consistent and scientifically meaningful way.

For the first time, naturism stigma can now be measured across all major domains rather than discussed only anecdotally or informally. The SSM provides a comprehensive framework that captures how stigma is expressed, perceived, internalised, and experienced.

A Four-Domain Framework for Global Research

The SSM evaluates stigma through four essential dimensions.

Public Attitudes: societal prejudice, misconceptions, and discriminatory intent

Perceived Stigma: how naturists believe they are viewed by society
Internalised Stigma: personal feelings of shame, fear, or self-blame
Enacted Stigma: real-world incidents of exclusion, discrimination, or harm

Earlier tools assessed limited aspects of public attitudes. None included naturists' lived experiences or the combined emotional, social, and behavioural impact of stigma. The NRE SSM fills this global gap.

NRE invites naturists, non-naturists, researchers, educators, health professionals, policy specialists, and allies to participate in the SSM pilot study.
