~ Governor Mike Kehoe will be making a special announcement in Springfield on Wednesday, April 23 alongside the U.S. Route 66 Centennial Commission, The Road Ahead Partnership, and the Missouri Route 66 Centennial Commission. The announcement will take place at 3 p.m. at the Best Western Route 66 Rail Haven.
The Missouri Route 66 Centennial Commission was created by Governor Kehoe to honor the 100th anniversary of Route 66 in 2026. The commission's main responsibilities include preparing cities across Missouri for the celebration, organizing events, encouraging community involvement, and providing information on centennial activities. So far, the commission has invested over $1 million in state funds to incentivize Missouri communities to plan events and create tourist attractions.
