For the second year, Kansas City Parks and Recreation is participating in Union Station's Holiday Reflections exhibit with the installation of a live Poinsettia Tree. The almost 10-foot tall tree is comprised of 90 living pink, red and white Poinsettia plants. While it took KC Parks employees almost two hours to erect the tree, you can watch this time-lapse video in just 40 seconds.
Aside from the KC Parks Poinsettia Tree, the walk-thru holiday village features KC's largest indoor decorated tree, sky-reaching lights, giant forest friends and eye-popping, floating mirrored ornaments along with the largest holiday model train layout in the Midwest. Extravagant 3-D window scenes — complete with animated elements — add to the magic and fascinate guests of all ages. This is the biggest holiday production Union Station has mounted and is certain to delight guests of every age. Holiday Reflections is open 10 a.m.-8 p.m. daily from Nov 26 – Dec 27, 2021. Tickets are available at unionstation.org.

In addition to the Poinsettia Tree, KC Parks has loaned Union Station one of our giant Adirondack Chairs which has been painted red/white for the holidays. Both the chair and tree are perfect settings for holiday selfies. Be sure to tag #KCParks and #MeAndThePoinsettiaTree on social media.
KC Parks and Union Station are also hosting two Quick Paint contests during Holiday Reflections. Visitors can see artists in action as they capture the magic of Union Station in all its holiday glory on December 3rd and 11th. Local artists will have 2.5 hours to complete a painting on-site and turn it in for judging on the evening of Friday, December 3rd and the afternoon of Saturday, December 11th! These original paintings will also be available for sale and make great holiday gifts. Happy Holidays from KC Parks ~ we'll see you at The Station!
