~ Kansas City Water Issues Precautionary Boil Water Advisory in College Avenue Area
Kansas City, MO- In light of a recent water main break and subsequent repairs, KC Water has issued a precautionary boil water advisory to customers in the area of College Avenue from 57th street to 59th street. The advisory is being issued out of an abundance of caution due to a loss of positive pressure on the water main during the repair process. A timeline for the completion of repairs is still being determined.
Under this advisory, customers are advised to follow certain guidelines to ensure their safety and well-being. These include boiling all drinking water for at least three minutes before use, letting it cool sufficiently before consumption. Customers are also advised not to use un-boiled tap water for making ice or preparing food. Dishes and food contact surfaces can be disinfected using tap water with one teaspoon of household bleach per gallon.
While the tap water is safe for other purposes such as bathing, small children should be discouraged from swallowing bath water. It is also recommended that boiled water be used for brushing teeth.
