~ Springfield, MO - After an extensive search and interview process, David Cameron has been selected as the 14th City Manager for the city of Springfield. Pending a public City Council vote later this month, Cameron will officially take on the role, bringing with him over 30 years of experience in local government.
Cameron, a native of Miller, Missouri, has devoted his career to improving and managing city operations. He holds a bachelor's degree in organizational management from John Brown University in Siloam Springs and has spent the past three years serving as City Administrator for the City of Republic.
Prior to his time in Republic, Cameron spent 16 years with the City of Siloam Springs, Arkansas as their City Administrator. During his tenure there, he successfully negotiated the sale of a city-owned hospital, resulting in a $10.6 million benefit to the community.
Under Cameron's leadership in Republic, the city has seen significant growth and development. With $1.4 billion in capital investments and 3,000 new jobs created, he has played a crucial role in projects such as the Garton Business Park and the establishment of an Amazon Fulfillment Center.

Mayor Jeff Schrag expressed his confidence in Cameron's abilities stating, "With over 30 years in local government, David has demonstrated a consistent ability to lead and manage city operations effectively and is the right person for our community at a time when Springfield is on the rise."
Cameron is known for his "disruptive leadership" style which focuses on reducing bureaucracy and enhancing service delivery. He has implemented systems that streamline processes and fostered a culture of innovation within city departments.
In regards to his new role as City Manager for Springfield, Cameron stated, "I am very excited and honored to join the City of Springfield as its next City Manager...the opportunity to continue serving the region I've always loved is truly special." He also expressed gratitude for his time in Republic and his excitement to contribute to the growth and success of his hometown.

Cameron is an active member of Second Baptist Church and enjoys spending time outdoors in the Ozarks. He is also a proud grandfather with three adult children, all of whom work in healthcare.
The City Council will take a formal vote on Cameron's employment contract during an upcoming regular council meeting. His first reading will take place on Monday, May 19, with the final vote expected on May 27. Cameron will officially take on the role of City Manager on July 7 and will be paid a salary of $350,000.
