(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ On the evening of February 2nd, a collision involving two vehicles and a motorcycle occurred at the intersection of Business Loop 70 and Hathman Place in Columbia, Missouri. The Columbia Police were alerted to the incident at approximately 7 p.m. and immediately dispatched officers to the scene.
Upon arrival, it was determined that an SUV traveling eastbound on Business Loop 70 was slowing down to make a turn onto Hathman Place. At the same time, a motorcycle with two passengers, identified as Christina Mayfield, 32, and an unidentified driver, was also slowing down due to the SUV ahead.
However, a truck traveling behind them failed to slow down and crashed into the back of the motorcycle. This caused the motorcycle to collide with the rear of the SUV and both passengers were ejected from the vehicle during impact.

Sadly, Mayfield did not survive the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator of the motorcycle sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Fortunately, no other parties involved in the collision were injured.
The authorities have notified Mayfield's next of kin and an investigation into the incident is ongoing. The case has been assigned number 2024-000823.
