The City of Columbia Water & Light Utility is following up on recent incidents of water discoloration.

Discoloration occurs because of changes in pressure and flow in the City's water system which can stir up mineral sediments within water mains. Pressure and flow in the City's water system vary based on water usage and water main breaks.

Water & Light confirmed one water main break Wednesday, June 16, near North Stadium Boulevard at Cosmo Park. That break may have contributed to some water discoloration in the immediate area as a result of mineral sediments in the pipes being stirred up. Crews isolated the main break yesterday and began work repairing the pipe this morning. No customers are under a boil advisory as a result of the identified break.
