(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Public Works Department Provides Update on Pavement Maintenance Work
The City of Columbia's Public Works department has announced an update to the pavement maintenance work that was originally scheduled for June 2-6. Due to weather-related delays, contractors were unable to begin work until Thursday, June 5. As a result, the pavement maintenance activities will now continue into the week of June 9-14, weather permitting.
According to officials, progress has been slower than anticipated due to cooler temperatures, overcast skies and low wind. These conditions have negatively impacted how quickly the product can dry and cure. As a result, no work will take place on Friday, June 6.
On June 5, contractors were finally able to apply Onyx surface treatment to several streets including Glencairn Drive from Highlands Parkway to Prestwick Drive, Belle Meade Drive from Canterbury Drive to the end of the street, Canterbury Drive from Green Meadows Road to Forum Boulevard, and Pear Tree Circle from Southampton Drive to Southampton Drive.

In order to ensure the safety and efficiency of the maintenance work, updated "No Parking" signs with revised dates have been posted along the streets scheduled for treatment. Residents are urged to follow the dates listed on the signs and avoid parking on those streets during the posted times. Vehicles parked in work zones during working hours are subject to towing.
The Public Works department would like to express their appreciation for the community's patience and cooperation as they work to extend the life of Columbia's streets.
