(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Starting September 1st, the City of Columbia's Utility Customer Service will be implementing new hours of operation for their phone services. According to a press release from the city, the phone lines will now be available from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, instead of the previous time of 5:30 p.m. After 5 p.m., callers will be directed to after-hours services.

This change was made due to a consistently low call volume after 5 p.m. and is expected to have minimal impact on customers. However, it will bring several benefits such as reducing unnecessary labor costs and improving coordination between departments by streamlining end-of-day procedures.
