(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ COLUMBIA, MO - Burrell Behavioral Health, in collaboration with the Boone County Overdose Response Coalition and Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services, will be hosting a SAVE-A-LIFE event on Tuesday, Sept. 16. The event will take place at Burrell Behavioral Health's location at 90 E. Leslie Lane from noon to 1:00 p.m.
The purpose of this event is to educate the community on how to prevent opioid overdose deaths through the use of naloxone nasal spray, also known as Narcan®. This medication is able to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.
Attendees will have the opportunity to receive both formal and informal training on how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose and how to properly use and access naloxone. Public Health and Human Services staff will be available after the event for those who are unable to attend the formal presentation.

SAVE-A-LIFE is a monthly series of free events that aim to raise awareness and facilitate conversations about preventing opioid overdose deaths. No registration is required for this event and all attendees will have access to a personal supply of naloxone.
Funding for this event is provided by contract DH240054280 between Public Health and Human Services and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. Thanks to a continued partnership between Public Health and Human Services and the Missouri Institute for Mental Health, participants will be able to receive Narcan at no cost.
