(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ COLUMBIA, MO - The ARC (Activity & Recreation Center) is set to host a SAVE-A-LIFE event on Wednesday, June 24, from noon to 1 p.m. at their location on 1701 W. Ash Street. This event aims to educate and distribute Naloxone, also known as Narcan®, in partnership with the Boone County Overdose Response Coalition and Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services.

The program will include a formal presentation on how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose and how to use and access naloxone. Following the event, staff from Public Health and Human Services will be available to provide information and brief training for those who are unable to attend the formal presentation.

SAVE-A-LIFE is a monthly series of free events that focus on educating communities on how they can help prevent overdose deaths from painkillers like fentanyl by using naloxone nasal spray. This medication has the ability to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

Funding for this event is made possible through contract DH240054280 between Public Health and Human Services and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. Thanks to the ongoing partnership between Public Health and Human Services and the Missouri Institute for Mental Health, participants will have access to Narcan® at no cost.
