(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - The MERS Goodwill Excel Center, located at 101 N. 4th Street, will be hosting a SAVE-A-LIFE naloxone education and distribution event on Wednesday, April 9 from 12-1 p.m. in partnership with the Boone County Overdose Response Coalition (BCORC) and Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services (PHHS).
SAVE-A-LIFE is a monthly event that aims to educate the public on how to prevent opioid overdose deaths through the use of naloxone nasal spray, also known as Narcan®. This event is free and open to the public.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about recognizing the signs of an opioid overdose and how to properly use and access naloxone. In addition, PHHS staff will be available after the formal presentation to provide information and brief training for those who are unable to attend.

Funding for this event is provided by contract DH240054280 between PHHS and the State of Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. Thanks to a continued partnership between PHHS and the Missouri Institute for Mental Health (MIMH), participants will have access to NARCAN® at no cost.
