(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia's Sewer Utility has announced the closure of Poplar Street between Business Loop 70 East and Lakeview Avenue, effective Tuesday, Feb. 20. The closure is necessary for the utility to straighten the sanitary sewer pipes as part of a rehabilitation project. A contractor will be utilizing a liner and blown steam to reinforce the repaired pipes.

Barricades and signs will be in place to guide traffic near the closure, but access to all drive approaches will remain open. The project is expected to be completed by Feb. 21.
Motorists, pedestrians, and nonmotorized transportation users are advised to use caution when traveling through the work zone or consider taking alternate routes. The City of Columbia Sewer Utility is working diligently to complete this important project and apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.
