(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - Starting on Monday, June 2, 2025, residents and commuters in Columbia will need to find alternate routes as Bernadette Drive will be closed for construction. The closure is necessary to address street and structure flooding in the area. Rhad A. Baker Construction, LLC, a contractor for the City of Columbia Stormwater Utility, will be replacing existing stormwater infrastructure along the street.

The affected area will be between the Joe Machens dealership and Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. To ensure safety and proper traffic flow, barricades and signs will be placed to direct motorists near the closure. Detour signs will also be posted on Worley Street, Beverly Drive, Clinkscales Road, Stadium Boulevard and I-70 Drive Southwest.

According to officials from the City of Columbia Stormwater Utility, the project is expected to be completed by August 13, 2025, weather permitting. However, motorists are advised to exercise caution when traveling through the work zone or consider finding alternate routes during this time.

In addition to motorists, pedestrians and non-motorized transportation users are also urged to use caution when in the work zone or find alternate routes.

For those who rely on public transportation, there will also be changes in bus routes during this period. The Go COMO gold route bus will detour to avoid the affected area by turning right onto North Stadium Boulevard instead of Bernadette Drive from West Worley Street. The regular route will resume after turning left onto Bernadette Drive.

This detour is expected to be in effect from Monday, June 2 until Wednesday, August 13. However, it may be adjusted depending on any changes to the street project timeline.

During this time period, several bus stops will not be served including Bernadette Drive at Joe Machens Ford, Marshalls, Commerce Bank and West Worley Street. Riders are encouraged to use the nearest alternate stops at the Holiday Inn, Columbia Mall, Bernadette Drive at West Worley Street and West Worley Street at Steak 'n Shake.
