(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia residents can expect some road and sidewalk closures in the downtown area starting Wednesday, Feb. 11. Gerlach Construction will be replacing the roof of Brookside Downtown, located at 219 S. Ninth St., beginning at 7 a.m.
To ensure the safety of workers and pedestrians, portions of South Tenth and Locust streets, as well as adjacent sidewalks, will be closed. The affected areas include South Tenth Street between Elm and Locust streets, and Locust Street between South Tenth and Hitt streets.

Drivers are advised to follow detour signs to navigate around the closures using nearby streets. Pedestrians will also be directed to safe crossing locations and open sidewalks on the opposite sides of the streets.
In addition, "no parking" signs will be placed on affected meters at least 24 hours before work begins.
The construction is expected to be completed by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18, weather permitting. Residents are advised to plan their routes accordingly during this time period.
